| Many are confused
today on what Elders are and what Biblical names are associated
with them. Many think that the preacher is a pastor when in fact
he usually is not. Here is a list of Biblical names that Elders
are called: Bishop (1Tim. 3:1-2); Shepard, Elder, Overseer (1Pet.
5:1-2); Pastor (Eph. 4:11); Presbytery (1Tim. 4:14). Elders are
responsible for watching over the church and must be qualified (1Tim.
3:1-7 Titus 1:5-9). You will also notice that there is always a
plurality of Elders not just one. |
